Today I've been busy taking product pics for the shop.
It's been absolutely freezing in the flat, so in a fair few of the pics I look decidedly peeved.
Today was also the first time I used my new camera remote control.
Before I had to go back and forth to the camera to press the button in-between every photo, which was a complete pain in the backside plus quite often the camera wouldn't be in focus when I got to my place in front of it, which needless to say was also a huge big pain in the booty region.
Now I can simply press the remote and hey presto...click, click, click!
I'm loving the fact that it's sparing me a whole heap of faffing about but there is one small problem, the concealment of the remote.
It is nigh-on impossible to strike the 'hold your waist' pose, cause you have to use your fingers to press the button.
It does have a timer function, so I suppose I could slip it on the floor after I've pressed and then strike a pose.
So many things to worry about, world poverty, corruption, deforestation and how to look natural when using a bleeding camera remote control.
I can just feel my life spinning into a vacuous abyss of triviality here, och!
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it :)
I messed around with PicMonkey when I was having my hour off in the afternoon and here's the result...
The three frocks and the tie-dye top are all destined for the shop.
Not sure when cause I've got a fairly jam-packed schedule this week already.
Because it was all work and no play for me today, I just wore a comfy outfit in a style I'd describe as 'tatterdemalian'...
"Tatterdemalion: A person wearing ragged or tattered clothing"...that'll be me then ;) |
When I wasn't taking product pics, I changed into my comfy slippers because...
- I tend not to wear outdoors footwear indoors.
- I'd probably fall down and break my neck if I was to race up and down the stairs in these bad boys.
...but perhaps most importantly, I'm getting to that stage in my life when I'm really starting to appreciate sensible footwear, in particular slippers ;)
I've had two very odd & inexplicable cravings today; at one point I was gagging for a cheese and onion pasty (I'm vegan) & then I was struck by an insane craving for real ale (I knocked the booze on the head over four years ago).
I'm not sure what is going on, maybe it's the cold weather making me want to pig out on cheese and get drunk (sounds like heaven right now).
Watch this space, there may be a "pickled post" in the near future if my craving have their wicked way with me ;)
Thanks for all the lovely comments you've been leaving, you ROCK my little world!
Lot's of love,
Jennie

You really are talented! I love your shop too. I was wondering about making purchases from the US. Does the shipping get calculated once I go to paypal?
The cravings may mean that you're deficient in some vitamin or mineral that can be found in either the cheese or ale. Maybe zinc or vitamin B12? I have heard that theory, that the body just wants whatever it thinks will be the easiest way to get the nutrient so it sends our brain the message to eat cheese or whatever. May be worth looking at the main nutrients in them and seeing if you can get them in a vegan and non booze way. Sensible but more boring ;-)
I think I need a remote and a tripod, Krista suggested them ages ago and if your photos are anything to go by then I should track some down pronto.
Brilliant pictures and superb styling as ever.
I don't know how you could possibly give up cheese and real ale, I'd die without either! xxx
Yes Vix you do! I always enjoy how varied your looks are, you must have a million different personalities and all of them rock! Cheese is one of life's gifts indulge eat the cheese!
XXOO
My camera is so shitty I don't even know if I can get a remote... Totally want one AND a tripod! I love Tatterdemalion. I am a Tatterdemalion. You look freaking amazing in all the pics-- so much WORK!!
Becky :)
Oh camera related drama's - how I hate them! My camera itself is pretty rubbish. I should get a new one but find the whole process so intimidating. I love that first velvet frock. Your shoes are fab, but I would totally break my neck wearing them. I just looked at you shop - its pretty amazeballs! I want to buy things!!
beautiful pics!!

so gorgeous, i especially the velvet boots and the velvet dress are so beautiful, love them to pieces.
thank you also for your honest and realistic comment about london, unfortunately many people from london told me the same, that life is really expensive and sometimes hard in london, although it is the coolest place on earth;)
love and kiss,mary

I’m so thrilled with all the fabulous comments you ‘s been leaving :)
THANK YOU times an infinite number!
Joni – I've left this comment on your blog but for I’ll leave it here also in case anyone else may be interested.
Unfortunately the shipping for outside the UK is not automatically calculated when you go to Paypal, you have to contact me prior of purchase to find out shipping costs. Hassle city, I know but the only other shipping option that I can add on to my shop platform is ‘REST OF THE WORLD’ which is not very useful as there are three other Royal Mail postage zones other that within the UK.
I don’t really want to do what some other sellers do and just put an ‘international standard rate’ or make my prices so high that I can offer “free” shipping.
The cost to send an item weighing just under 500grams (the approximate weight of an average dress) is:
EU: £5
World Zone 1: £8 (US, Canada etc)
World Zone 2: £8.50 (Australia, New Zealand etc)
If you want the parcel to be sent with ‘International Signed For’ or ‘Airsure’ service for compensation and peace of mind in case of loss, there’s an additional charge of around £5 :(
There is also the option of Surface Mail but it’s not one that I would recommend cause not only does it take weeks (sometimes months) to arrive, in my experience sometimes it doesn't arrive at all, so not a very reliable option…. cheaper but in all honesty pretty shit with it!
I want to be able to offer my buyers the most economical but also secure shipping there is, so if you want to buy something from me, e-mail me (frocktasia@yahoo.co.uk) and I’ll look into the available options.
Hope that helps ;)
Yvonne – when I was reading your comment it dawned on me that I have not taken multivitamins since before Christmas… we ran out of them, went on holiday and then old ‘out of sight, out of mind’ happened.
So a wee trip to Holland and Barrett this afternoon I think.
I also stopped buying soya milk (enriched with the important B-vits that are lacking in the vegan diet) so that’s probably got something to do with it too.
Must work harder on the diet cause like you say my body is telling me that at the moment it is just not good enough ;)
Vix – Mark got me the tripod from Argos for my birthday last year. It’s by Vivitar and cost under £20, they still stock it. It’s not the sturdiest thing on the planet; so probably not suitable for photo shoots in a howling gale but for normal conditions and indoor shoots it is just fine. It also has the advantage of being very lightweight and comes with a handy carry case. The camera remote can be bought on eBay or Amazon for as little as £11 depending on what camera you have. Shop around and you’ll be able to kit your camera out for cheaps I’m sure :)
It does save a lot of time not having to faff around so much anymore. My next investment will be in some decent lighting.
Krista - I am seriously considering inviting those two things (ale and cheese) back into my life, it’s been too long me thinks…you can’t live without things in perpetuity, right?!…. apart from meat, I don’t have any strange cravings for something’s flesh, thank goodness!
Becky – my last Canon wasn't remote control compatible, so I just assumed this one was the same being another entry level one but thankfully I was wrong. Tripods are the way forward.
Glad to find a fellow Tatterdemalion too :)
Trees – yup, the whole process of getting a new camera is not only intimidating but also a huge excruciating headache. I spent an entire weekend pouring over review websites and as someone who is a complete technical cave dweller it almost made me loose my will to carry-on! I've got a canon D1100 and I really like it.
It’s reasonable affordable, it’s not too complicated to get your head around, it’s lightweight and takes good pictures :)
Sabrina, Lucie & Izumi, – Cheers dolls :)
Mary Lou – the velvet boots look awesome but are not too kind on the feet. I wore them to a friends birthday bash once and danced the night away only to find that I could hardly walk for the next few days, my feet were killing me, och! Now they only get outings that are much less demanding or are featured in my wee cottage industry photo shoots ;)
"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson
London is an amazing place of that there is no doubt but like any big city it can also be a complete nightmare to inhabit, especially if you happen to be short of friends and funds.
Ten years ago when I was still going out every weekend, it certainly was the place to be for me but my life is very different now and I hanker for the great outdoors and as such feel very confined living here. I’m sure that I would feel differently if I weren't perpetually skint ;)
Very cool looks! Love the velvet dress and the floral one too! Great styling!

I really need a professional remote control, the photos look amazing and I love how you modeled each different style! I used to be vegan but it ruined my healt, because I find out that eating more soy causes me allergy and intolerance (and so beans, corn and rice)
with the result that I felt very sick and my body was in an awful shape even if I thought my diet was right.
Now I'm vegetarian, but I don't like cheeses very much!
I think that for ourselves is better to eat everything (except meat of course) in the right quantities and variations.
Love xxxxx
As always - fab pics and you arse is gorgeous!! Sarah xxx
Rebecca & Bex – cheers for visiting…xXx
Edie – you should totally get a remote they are quite inexpensive, try eBay or Amazon ;)
I find that I struggle with my veganism in winter. I think its because a lot of the fruits and veggies are imported from a long way away and a lot of the nutrients have been lost in transit. In the summer it seems to be much better, cause I can get stuff that is almost fresh from the fields here in the UK. I think getting a half decent dose of sunshine everyday also helps.
I eat a lot of legumes, lentils, chickpeas and beans in all their wonderful varieties but I’m not too keen on soybeans (they give me a dicky tummy).
I also think that veganism is a lifestyle choice that should not be taken lightly cause you can do serious damage to yourself if you just banish stuff from your diet without replacing essential nutrients by introducing alternatives.
To anyone considering going vegan, I’d suggest doing some serious research before commencing, then trying it out for a month. If after a trial month you feel like shit, then veganism is obviously not for you…xXx
Sarah – cheers for the arse related compliment, you’ve just made me & my arse’s day ;)…xXx
You look like a true professional, Jennie.
Much love.

The Feisty Floral number looks gorgeous with your hair - are you sure that you don't want to keep that one? I'm going to have to spend more time playing with Pic Monkey...
Lovely stuff. Love the platforms!
Hmmm, I've always heard that when you have certain unusual cravings is because your body needs something!
