Would you buy a used car from this woman?

It's gone all Baltic & dreich again but I'm keeping myself upbeat by looking at old commercials and comedy clips on YouTube.
I thought I'd share some of my favourites with you :)
I remember being mesmerized by commercials when I was a kid. That was back in the day when you only ever saw them when you went to the movies.
In Sweden we only had two terrestrial TV channels until 1994.
When I was growing up the programs would usually start at half past five and stop just before midnight. There would only be morning & late night telly at the weekends.
Towards the end of the 80s commercial TV stations mushroomed when cable & satellite TV appeared on the scene.
When I talk to people in their twenties they find it hard to imagine a time before TV on tap and as for the Internet, how did humanity ever cope without it?
It is quite amazing and perhaps a little bit scary just how important a tool it has become for most of us in such a short space of time. I know I would struggle to cope without it now.
As for television, there came a point last year when we decided that our brains were cluttered enough without the constant tsunami of reality TV shows, celebrities acting like desperate attention seeking monkeys and commercials, so the old box was unceremoniously binned.
Do I miss having telly in my life? Not one single bit!
I can still watch comedy, documentaries and nature programs on YouTube, when I feel the need.
I have no interest whatsoever in celebrities or soaps, I'd rather watch paint dry.
How about you?
H&M tiger stripe rockstar coat bought in 2000, amazing vintage 60s psychedelic print dress that was a gift from my sister in Denmark, cropped lurex jumper, 99p stores snood, Repro Victorian lace-up boots, layered tights, velvet gloves, hat, faux-amber pendant & Frocktasia earrings.
 In other news...
Here is my favourite stateside boho babe Reva, sporting a fabulous Indian tunic dress that I sent her because I knew she would totally ROCK IT, as is blatantly obvious from these magnificent pics...
What a Babe!
If you are not following Reva already, then I have to say that you are really missing out big time cause she is a true gem in the blogoshere.
You can keep up with the lovely Reva on...
This one is for you Reva...
and just because you are so AWESOME another one :)
I'll finish off with one of my all time comedy heroes Bill Hicks, enjoy ;)
Hope your weekend has got off to a brilliant start.
Loads of love,
Jennie

Tiger coat is amazing and you look oh so FAB in purple!! We don't watch TV either, we are members of one of those DVD clubs where you can get X amount of DVD's for X price a month. I really love it!! I get to watch what I want when I want and THANKFULLY its commercial free - I can't stand them!

I don't watch TV much, mostly news and a few entertaining programs on weekends if we stay at home. Most of the channels we have here are Indian and I've never before seen so much commercials - they give you 10 min of the show and then 10 min of commercials. So annoying!
Again you look fab in this outfit!

I like Underemployed's comment :D

I'd definitely buy a used car from you. You might talk in language I understand.

I think I would be fine without TV and internet, I'd just do more sewing and reading, and maybe my house would be cleaner.. God, I might even go out and meet my friends. There's a thought. xxx

Love the dress and the coat. Ok. I'll admit it: I freaking love TV!

I sent you my address this morning. And to think it's not even my birthday!

Spring is still playing tricks around here too, it's 11am and so dark and stormy the street light s are on!

The coat is at risk of being kidnapped by a swarm of adoring fans. The dress is seriously awesome but the coat is an object of divine intervention. TV is part of our family life but I don't watch a lot - in NZ we have a higher rate of US programmes on our schedules than people do in US, true, I read a research paper on it recently. So much rubbish on tv, thank god for blogs and the internet!

What a pretty outfit and delightfully entertaining photos with captions! How in the world did you get that fantastic look to your hair in the photo captioned: "This is my woman of action 70s shampoo commercial look"? Did it involve 70's shampoo?

I love the look of your tights, that lovely vintage 60s psychedelic print dress, and your "velvet finger pistol"!!! I'd best be careful lest it turn out that you are an agent of MI6 and that your velvet finger pistol has been armed by "M" (James Bond).

I must apologise for having so brashly solicited your comments and for having gotten you told off - sorry - (but wanker that I am I'm totally enjoying the fabulous comment you left!).
I left a comment on your "maniac grin" (I LOVE it!) in the comments to my last post at http://www.full-brief-panties.blogspot.com/2013/03/outfit-post-and-review-hanes-her-way.html (me blog pimping).

I have another apology to make. Not being from the UK I'm a bit unfamiliar with some words you use.
I know what Baltic is but didn't know what dreich is or what "Eskewed beef! Have anybody got any bockle ourange joof?" meant. I tend to try to look up words I don't know, but have an American (not proper English) dictionary and am a vegetarian.
I do have orange juice and eschew beef but I don't think I have any bouclé.

I also do not currently have television service. There are many thinks I do not miss about the telly at all: The rapid alternating dark and blinding bright flashing multiple images split seconds apart with raised decibel level obnoxious soundtracks
- especially the shrill whistles, sounds of a phone ringing, and the incessant high-pressure sales pitches. The telly programs should use truth in advertising listing the main ingredient first: Channel 2 - advertising, Channel 3 - advertising, Channel 4 - advertising, etc..
and of course the paucity of ideas and lack of diversity in other content programming: A steady diet of propaganda advocating fear and war, the idea that liberties are for felons to hide behind and that policemen's hunches are always right etc. etc;
The totally insipid reality shows to which you referred, the demeaning "contests" - it just wasn't worth paying for. I believe it was decreasing my attention span and hurting my eyesight - but I have another confession to make:
I did like watching the series "Coupling" and also "Dr. Who" (gasp - sigh). I don't think they play over here anymore though.

Getting back to your outfit - I love the colour of your cropped lurex jumper too. :)
