I've been a busy bee today preparing my stock for the The Dandy Lion Market on Saturday.
Here's a sneaky-peek preview of most of the stock that I'll be bringing with me...

Prices will range from £5 to £30 and there will be a bargain box too.
I've still to sort out some bags, shoes, accessories & knick-knacks to bring but I'll do that tomorrow.
Here are some random 'label, print and detail' close-ups...

I'm bringing a few bits for the boys too...
This is where I'll be trading on Saturday...
Like I mentioned in Tuesday's post the event is a get together with Oxfam to celebrate International Women's Day.
It will help raise funds to support women living in poverty around the world.
I have pledged 10% of my takings and I've also donated a retro 80s coffee jar filled with coffee sweets for the tombola.
If you are in Kentish Town on the day please pop in and see me and all the other fabulous sellers ;)
This was today's ensemble...
After reading Olga's post yesterday I was inspired to wear one of my African blouse tops.
Olga's blog is called Local Fashion and it has an amazing back catalogue of interesting posts, it's blooming fabulous!
Abstract print African blouse top, sequin leggings, 80s cropped jacket, Moschino belt, Indian block print chiffon wrap, 80s worm-coil earrings, 80s boots & Tibetan prayer bangle. |
Today I got so fed up with my natty hair, I made hubby cut it for me, so now it's in a sort of bob style.
I'm not a big fan of going to the hairdressers so I very seldom do.
My hair is so tremendously flimsy & fine, it takes any hairdresser about two minutes to cut it and it just feels like a waste of money to be honest.
Another thing that really gets my goat about hairdressers is that even if you wash your hair yourself five minutes before the appointment, they go...
-"We still have to wash your hair!"
-"Why, do you not trust my hair washing ability?"
I know that quite a few of my blogging buddies trim their own tresses too, so I'm in good company :)
After all it's only hair & it will grow out again eventually.
Hope you will have a groovetastic Friday folks, here's a tune to put you in the mood...

That's a very nice assortment of clothing you're going to be taking to The Dandy Lion Market in Kentish Town with you. I love the short sleeve dress (second one down on the left) and the puff sleeve peplum number just below it. The floral prints on the outfits in the sixth sixth row down are pretty. I like the belt shown with the frock on the right. Those sheer tops look very much like some of the haute couture on the runways almost as I write this. It's interesting how vintage and current fashion merge. I'm sure your knick knacks will be fascinating. Your ensemble for today looks fab and your hubby did very nicely, at your direction, with your hair. It looks pretty.
Look at all that loot! You will have no problem selling the whole bunch! How groovy is that men's indian top, dang FRESH! I dig the pattern and sheen on that top you are wearing and I am a huge fan of doing my own hair, coloring that is. I pay all of $12 for a haircut because my stylist is cool and she knows it takes her like 5 minutes to do my hair.
XOOX
I love your outfit!!! The top, the Moschino belt (awesome!!), the legging boots!! All of it! Looks like you have everything nearly all set. So exciting. I can't wait to hear how it goes.
Becky :)
Jennie. I was just driving home and HAIR was on the car radio!! Harmonic convergence. I have baby hair like you and I often cut it myself. You HAVE TO or they'll take it all off! Your bob is super cute! And what a bunch of super fab frocks!
Love this African print of your blouse. And the leggings are really stunning! Reading about hairdressers made me laugh. It seems that it is same everywhere :) What I don't like it here as well that they comment about my hair thinking that I don't understand Nepali "oh, so thin hair" or "oh, so little hair she has"...Seriously, just cut!
Thank you for linking up to my blog, it was a nice surprise for me :) Good luck at the market
I love everything you are bringing to the market, especially all the dresses!! I'm sure it will be a great success! The blouse you are wearing is stunning and it looks great with the sequin pants!
I hate hairdressers too, I'm sorry for them, but I prefer to cut and dye my hair by myself, at least I'm less disappointed with the results!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Love xxxxxx
Yet another rivetting post. Love the men's shirts!!! Bring em on to the Dandy Lion Market!! xx
Your hair looks brilliant! It's so liberating to do it yourself (or to have a tame man at hand to help) isn't it? I can't think of a time I ever left the hairdresser's happy and haven't been for 5 years.
You look fab, yet another glorious outfit to tempt the punters tomorrow!
You've some fabulous stuff. I'm going to predict the native American and record print shirts sell to a skinny teenage hipster within 5 minutes of the doors opening.
I'm about to start on selecting the wares I'm taking tomorrow, I'm so excited!
Good luck! xxxxxxx
I love the blouse with people print. is it size 14, and could I buy it from you??
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Wow, that's a ton of stuff. You'll sell it all. It must be some sort of trend for Saturday. You, Vix selling and I'm going to a huge rummage sale . All on Saturday.
I've been cutting and dying my hair for years. I can't remember the last time I paid a hairdresser. They don't seem to listen and do what's trendy.
I love your outfit! And what a gorgeous dresses you are selling.... I wished I lived a bit closer...
xx Jolanda.
So much great stock! I hope you do really well tomorrow. Love the tunic with those sequin leggings too.
I am off to the hairdresser's tomorrow. Unlike most of your commenters, I LOVE going and would go more often if I could afford it! My hairdresser is delightful, she has rescued my hair when it got very over-dyed from doing it myself, and I can't imagine cutting my own hair, apart from the fringe.
Each to their own, I guess - your husband did a great job with yours, you look lovely! xxxx
Love your cropped locks, Jennie, and so wish I could do mine sans hairdresser but I would muck up all the required layers. Your dress is fab, and your stock for the fair looks amazing! The native-motif oversize shirt is truly fab. I am stalking 90s floral/patchwork oversize cotton/rayon shirts on Etsy at the mo. They'll be perfect with ballet flats, sloppy jeans and for breast feeding in the spring! Good luck with the fair and looking forward to seeing more pics. Xoxo
you have a lovely selection of clothes . i'm sure you will do very well. love lucyx
Oh man - I so wish I could come to your stall, looks amazing. I am so jealous your hubby cuts your hair - in fact I'm always amazed by women who cut/dye their own hair. My hair is thick and unruly and I just have to lay down the money to get a professional to do it otherwise its a disaster zone *sigh* Love those sparkly leggings!
I could go on about how much I hate hairdressers! If you can get someone to do it for free then do! I always home colour as well. I love all those clothes, they all look brilliant and you've picked really good prices for them, I hope the fair was a sucess and you sold loads. Love the African print top, especially with the moschino belt! xxx
