There's not much Shroom in here!

The beautiful Rhododendron bush in the park has started its annual floral display and needless to say I was keen to get some pics taken with this stunning backdrop.
I even dug out a very special frock for the occasion  ;)
I call this my 'psilosybin doodling dress' cause the print looks as if it was drawn by someone who was casually doodling away whilst on Shrooms.
I bought it on eBay many moons ago and I love it but unfortunately the top part is a wee bit of a snug fit, that's why I like to team it with my suede waistcoat cause it keeps the buttons from straining. Like the other psychedelic print maxi that I showed you back in March it's a frock I'll never part with.
It is labelled 'Courtaulds Dicel' the latter being the brand name of the fabric rather than the maker I believe. When I googled the name I found Curtise wearing a spectacular frock of the same label, lovely lady!
Anyone else out there with a 'Courtaulds' frock hiding away in their vintage wardrobe?
There is something really rather special about a frock with a hood, I feel a little bit mystical wearing it ;)
Vintage 60s psychedelic hooded maxi, 60s suede waistcoat, 70s boots, Handmade African earrings & necklace.
Here's a close-up of that gloriously trippy psilosybin doodle print...
I wish you all a groovy weekend!
Here's Jefferson Airplane to play us out, enjoy :)
Loads of love,
Jennie

I have a 70s dress with a hood in my shop and I'm kind of obsessed with it!!! It is way too little for me or I'd totally keep it!! Yours is so trippy good! One day I will come and steal that vest. I will feel a little bad, but then not that bad... Because I'll have the vest :)

I love your colourful vintage 60s hooded shroom doodle maxi-dress! Good grief, the history of Courtaulds in Wikipedia is dizzying to follow. It's a shame how unique apparel makers are gobbled up by huge corporations that only look at the bottom line. It's happened a lot with lingerie brands too. I had forgotten how pretty Rhododendron are when they bloom We had them beside the house when I was small. I love that Jefferplane Airson song and bought the album Surrealistic Pillow when it first came out (yes, I am that old). I still have it (vinyl). It almost looks like you were coming back out of the rabbit hole and growing like Alice in those first few photos. How did you manage to shrink like that in the first photo? I had trouble getting myself to say groovy again 45 years later, but have a fabulous weekend! Now where did I put my huge round shades, wild bell-bottoms and peace-sign jewelry? Enjoy :)

Very, very cool. What a wonderful dress!! and the vest is becoming something of a Jennie/Frocktasia icon. One of my fav songs from that time, too! I used to love singing to it (still do!) White Bird another lovely diddy from that era. Although I was too young to party at the time, I thoroughly loved the fashion and times while living in San Fran between 63-67. My sis and I were dragged to a few amazing parties by our parents. We moved an hour south to San Jose after, which was cool in other ways, especially in the 70's. I was older, too, if you get my drift. So, I'm thoroughly loving and reminiscing with your 60's and 70's explorations and forays! Love ya xx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylMaRaYc6mM

What a fabulous dress, love that psychedelic print and the uber cute hood! Not one to wear with a hangover though I bet! You look wonderful in those colours against the magnificent red flowers.

Nice to see Grace.

In twenty years, you will dress like Coco Chanel. But with psychedelic knickers.

Gorgeous dress - I have never seen a vintage dress with a hood. The pattern and colours are fabulous. I love Rhododendrons - they are my second favourite flower after peonies. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Yes, hooded maxis are ace, I take mine to India - saves packing a hat! Yours is fab, looks gorgeous with the waistcoat over the top.
I think everyone owned a Courtaulds' made item at one time, they were one of the biggest manufacturers for years. xxxx

That is indeed a fabulously hippy dippy trippy print! What a great frock, the addition of the little waistcoat is perfect.
I have seen a fair few Courtaulds pieces, but yes, I just have the one frock as per Google images - it's one of my faves too!
That song happens to be one of my faves too! xxxxx

That dress is exquisite, and your 'make it work' addition of the waistcoat gives it an even trippier vibe. I want to make my own version of that waistcoast with that applique design on the back!
