The wonderful white stuff

It snowed all morning, so when hubby came back from work we went for a walk in the park, threw a few snowballs and took some outfit pics, as you do ;)
Today's Ensemble:
Musk Ox of Copenhagen parka coat
Three pairs of leggings
Crushed velvet leotard
Revamped kilt pin top
Vintage 20s gents waistcoat
Steve Madden boots
Tibetan prayer bangle
Studded collar
Earrings that I made myself
Knitted scarf as headdress
I'm wearing two of my favourite things today.
My 1920s waistcoat that I got from my mother-in-law about five or six years ago. I love it so much I have literally worn it to pieces, the armholes are fraying, the seams are coming apart and the lining is threadbare but I still think it improves with every wear. The last button fell off a couple of years ago but instead of replacing it I added a punky kilt pin. I call it my tatterdemalion waistcoat.
The second favourite I'm wearing today is my Danish made parka coat. I bought it from a car boot sale on a roasting hot summers day some years ago and got it for song. It is amazingly warm, I think you could quite possibly undertake an Arctic expedition wearing this.
I can see myself wearing this coat for many many winters to come, unless I of course emigrate to a country that doesn't do cold winters ;)

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

I was going through some photo folders today and came across an old outfit fave...
It made me think of this amazing woman...
There is definitely more than a nod to Annie's androgynous style in these outfit pics...
I remember the very first time I watched the Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams' video clip back in the 80s cause it was also the very first time my mum said to me that she thought I looked like Annie Lennox's twin, at the time I wasn't impressed cause I wanted to look like Madonna.
Now when she says it to me, I think "Yeah right, I wish!"
My affection for Madonna faded fast after my tweens but Annie still remains a firm favourite of mine, if I could choose any person to do a duette with it would be her...
she ROCKS!
I wonder if this outfit would get a 'thumbs up' or a 'thumbs down' from Annie?
Vintage needle-cord & faux-fur trim coat by Spinney, vintage floral panel & cord riding style pants by Ghost, vintage  psychedelic print sharp collar shirt, vintage whipcord belt by Gucci, funky tie by Strange London, hellraiser heels by Demonia, leather driving gloves (a pressie from my fabulous sister in Denmark) & vintage mega clutch bag by Dolcis
Off to bedski now, it's really flipping late...
I will start adding some exciting new items to the shop when I get up ;)

Highland Games

It's raining, it's raining,
There's pepper in the box,
And all the little ladies
Are holding up their frocks.
Hubby and I went for a wee stroll in the park in-between downpours yesterday and staged an impromptu game of good old Highland caber tossing :)
What I Wore:
FROCKTASIA revamped denim shorts
90s Alien clubbing top with grey cami underneath
Miss Selfridge tights
Steve Madden kick-ass boots
Crochet knit beanie
Turkoman bag
80s sunnies
An assortment of bangles
Caber tossing action, hai-yah...
I'm hoping to revamp some more of these funky cut-offs in the near future.
I've got a whole stash of hubbies old jeans, a mega lot of Dylon that I scored on eBay a couple of years ago and more decorative buttons and embellishments than you can shake a stick at ;)
I've also got a rather fabulous book about different tie-dye techniques that I'd like to try out.
When I made these two pairs a couple of weeks ago I just winged it with a whole bunch of rubber-bands.
I still think they turned out really cool though...
Last but by no means least here's some caber tossing action by my beloved hubster...
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend :)

¡ Ay Caramba !

Frock number seven puts the rackage on display...
The Frock:
I scored this fabulous 70s frock from my vintage dealer friend a few years ago.
This alluring number is best teamed with a pert pair of ample dumplings but as mine are neither pert nor ample I had to resort to the usage of some serious scaffolding for this one.
The frock features ruffle trimmed wide sleeves & a row of fabric covered buttons underneath the bustline.
There is no label present indicating the maker or brand but there is a label stating that it was made in England.
The Shoes:
If I was going to wear this frock for a night out here in London, I'd probably opt for an elegantly towering heel but I didn't bring any of those to Egypt, not very practical footwear for traipsing around the great outdoors it has to be said.
I usually pack three or four pairs of shoes when I go away on holiday and this time was no exception.
I brought my glitzy jazz dancing shoes that double up as trainers, great for travelling in, a pair of embroidered flats, my vintage St Michael raffia wedge sandals and the vintage Pierre Cardin metallic sandals featured in the above pics.
I bought these from a local charity shop some years ago and they look great incorporated in most outfits.
They are both versatile & supremely comfy, just what you need in a holiday wardrobe.
The Throwing of Shapes:
I like to inject a little bit of theatre and movement into my pictures and that is why I'm often snapped with an arm flung up in the air or a leg aloft.
Truth is I'm just a big sausage of silliness that likes to have fun & play dress-up and I don't think I'll ever tire of it.
******
I'm so happy it's the weekend, for a four day week this one certainly dragged its sorry arse...good riddance!
I'm starting to get the "back in Blighty blues" and a sore throat to top things off, och bugger!
Have a nice relaxing weekend peeps, enjoy ;)

Saturday 17 March 2012

Green is a colour, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 520–570 nanometers.

In honour of Saint Patrick's Day I've decided to do a a post on one of my favourite colours i.e. Green!
I scoured the offerings of my fave blog goddesses and found gorgeous green outfits galore, feast your eyes on this fabulous lot...

Here's some fabulously green frockage from my own wardrobe...
...and two new garments to hit my vast amassment of vintage clobber :)
A kitschtastic Kermit green vintage 70s jumpsuit labelled 'JOSHUA TREE - California' & a sweet seafoam green 'Dollyrockers' frock...
Hope you are all having a cracking weekend!

Frocktasia by the sea

Yesterday hubby and I took a trip to the seaside...
Eastbourne to be more precise :)
The sea air was bracing to say the least so a few people stopped and had a good old gawp whilst these pics were taken ;)
I'm Swedish so I'm used to sub zero temperatures...
I'm a hard-ass viking bint!
Vintage 50s Margot Paynton lurex flocked dress, Indian silk choli top, block & lace layered tights, vintage 80s boots, jet sugarbead hipster belt worn as necklace, DIYed earrings, PAK cosmetics wig and a plethora of bangles.
We had a quick stroll on the pier, when I spotted this...
STRICTLY FORBIDDEN...FORSMIDDEN!
I just had to jump off the pier after seeing that ;)
Thankfully I had a very soft landing...I landed on my arse!
After my impromtu parkour off the pier escapade we went for chips & pickled onions.
I only ever eat chips when I'm by the seaside.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that chips taste far better when your by the sea?!
This winged chip predator was scoping us out as we munched away...
It was obvious that he meant business so we shared our feast with him to avoid being covered in bird rump spillage.

A fabulously frolicksome evening followed a wonderful day...
...we celebrated our friend & X-bandmates big birthday.
Huzzah, he's an old frood now...I'm next ;)
Hope all you fabulous peeps have had an awesome weekend too ;)
Lot's of love,
Jennie

A post that Barbara Cartland would be proud of

After last weeks Barbara Cartland related frock post I had an urge to delve deeper into the world of pink ;)
So I scoured the blogs of a few of my fave frockers & found lots of pinky fabulousness on offer.
I think Helga could very well be Barbara Cartlands secret love child, just look at the magnificent use of full-on pink in these four cracking ensembles...
Vix mixes it up using a clashing shade of jewel green,
that ties in beautifully with the print on her baby pink frock, awesome!
I also came across Desiree wearing this amazing hot pink pajama ensemble (loving the contrasting chartreuse hair flower) & Sharon sporting a lovely summery pink floral print frock...
So the bloggers that I love certainly don't seem to shy away from the quintessentially girly hue favoured by Barbara Cartland ;)
What about you, do you rock pink?
I certainly do...
Where do you stand on men wearing pink?
Yay or nay?
Personally I'm not keen!
When I visualize hubby in the above ensemble & it actually hurts my brain a little.
Which is your favourite shade of pink?
Mine's got to be fuchsia.
Here's some more pinky loveliness...
Hope everyone had a fabulous Friday night & is not feeling too fragile this morning.
I actually managed to wake up with distinct hangover-esque feeling after drinking two bottles of groTesco's 1% cider...
I mean what is the world coming to folks ;)
Have a great Saturday y'all!
